In 1989 Norm Maia co-founded MFT Specialty Cleaning Systems Ltd, having worked in the industry for 4 years, achieving Textile and Restorer Master Status with the IICRC. Within a few short years it was apparent that MFT needed to look beyond local borders as our larger clients, with multi-office locations, encouraged us to manage their facilities from coast to coast. MFT’s unique management abilities were put to the test with a careful vetting process and maintenance specifications we successfully answered the call, creating MFT National Cleaning Services LTD.

During this time Norm sat on several industry boards helping to raise the cleaning standards globally, serving 10 years with the FIO (Floorcovering Institute of Ontario) assisted the rebranding to the CFCRA (Canadian Floorcovering, Cleaning and Restoration Association). Norm also proudly served on the IICRC Board of Directors as both the Certification Council Chair & Treasurer for 4 years along with sourcing, selecting and negotiating the purchase of the IICRC Global Resource Center located in Las Vegas, and continues to be an active committee member drafting the S-100 standard for Textile Cleaning.
